The challenge was to blend timeless aesthetics with practicality, catering to both the apartment’s historical charm and its contemporary living requirements.

Technical Details

The flooring chosen for this project is in the Whisky Sour colour, a part of our Vienna Woods Distilled Collection. Whisky Sour adds a touch of elegance and history to the home. Lithuanian oak is renowned for its durability and density, a result of the slow growth caused by the region’s average temperature of 8 degrees Celsius. This slow growth process allows the timber to develop a dense, solid structure with unique and intriguing colouring and grain profiles.

Design and Aesthetic

The design of the home is a perfect blend of modern and classic styles, with the herringbone parquet flooring adding a touch of timeless elegance. The client desired a flooring option that could withstand the rigors of daily life while complementing the apartment’s high ceilings. It was crucial to preserve the space’s historical integrity while enhancing its visual appeal with a luxurious finish.

Fun Fact: The Whisky Sour Cocktail

Like so many spirits and cocktails, we can thank sailors for this delicious cocktail. The Whisky Sour was a perfect combination of citrus, to combat scurvy, and whisky to quench the sailor’s thirst. This cocktail embodies sophistication and a rich history, much like our Whisky Sour-coloured oak flooring.

The installation of this herringbone flooring not only revitalized the apartment’s interior but also exceeded the client’s expectations in terms of aesthetics and performance. The lacquer finish provided a resilient surface that required minimal maintenance, ensuring long-lasting beauty without compromising on functionality.

Manhattan is an Oak timber floor part of the Vienna Woods Distilled Collection. The Distilled Collection is a unique range of incredibly dense, hard-wearing wooden floors sourced from Lithiania. Lithuanian oak is really slow-growing, giving an interesting grain profile and incredibly dense timber. The Distilled collection is made in Europe to meet the highest European standards of health and durability. Certifications include FSC sustainability and a zero VOC rating for volitile organic compounds. Assitionally, no formeldahyde is added during any of the processing.

The Distilled Collection is designed to accomodate spaces of sophistication, solace and sharing. A space where someone can enjoy a peaceful moment or a celebration with others. In line with that sentiment, each colour option is named after a classic cocktail.

Options in Distilled include wide planks, standard planks and parquet options such as chevron and herringbone.

The Vienna Woods Chateau wide boards instantly captivated, promising to elongate the room while adding a touch of rustic charm. But aesthetics alone wouldn’t suffice; durability was paramount in a high-traffic area frequented by family and friends.

Crafted with precision and unparalleled craftsmanship, Café Au Lait French Oak Flooring offered the perfect balance of style and resilience. Its rich, creamy tones served as a canvas for the room’s décor, effortlessly complementing both modern and traditional elements. As daylight danced across the wide planks, the space transformed into a sanctuary of serenity, inviting moments of connection and comfort.

Beyond its visual allure, Café Au Lait proved its mettle in everyday life. From impromptu gatherings to playful footsteps of children and pets, the flooring remained steadfast, a testament to its quality and endurance. Its smooth surface resisted wear and tear, promising years of graceful aging without compromising on beauty.

Oak Lapis Smoked Oak Flooring for the Tent House

In the innovative Tent House by Strachan Group Architects, Vienna Woods’ Admonter Oak Lapis oiled timber flooring stands out for its unique character. This striking project, nestled among sand-dunes near Ocean Beach in Tairua, features the distinctive smoked oak, highlighting the home’s natural integration with its surroundings.

Integration with Design

Admonter Oak Lapis is a smoked oak, which is incredibly rare in New Zealand. It brings a sense of depth and complexity to the Tent House’s design. The smoking process, which involves enveloping the oak timber in smoke for days, results in a rich, nuanced colour palette and a subtle smokiness. This wood flooring choice enhances the tent-like architecture, adding an organic, layered texture to the living areas.

Impact

The utilisation of Vienna Woods‘ Admonter Oak Lapis underscores the company’s dedication to unique, high-quality, and sustainable timber flooring. Its unusual smoked effect and deep, intricate colours resonate with the Tent House’s ecological focus, perfectly aligning with the home’s striking design and environmental ethos. In addition, being an oiled timber floor, means that no harmful chemicals have been coated on the floors surface. It is simply natural oil.
